Here, at long last, is my response to the following challenge from jedi_em
:Take any line you please from any book you please and then write a story/drabble that includes said line somewhere in it. The only "rules" are that the piece must be a minimum of 600 words and you must post it the first time unedited, just as you wrote it.
I chose the line "There is a way to be good again," from The Kite Runner
by Khaled Hosseini. (Which is, by the way, one of the best books I've ever read. I highly recommend it.) And my mind being what it is, I immediately thought of Palpatine, and Jar Jar Binks.
Amazingly, Kitster Banai does not appear in this story. Authorities are still looking into the matter.
So, here is the first, unedited posting. I wrote over a period of several days in fits and spurts, so I apologize if it's a bit jumpy. But then, it is

Anakin was not his son, of course. But he could
have been, and that, in the end, was what made Mireus Palpatine break.( Jar Jar Binks is probably the last person he had ever expected to see here, and yet somehow, it fits )
