And she bowed her head and handed over her spirit.
The thesis, a.k.a. the sword of Damocles that's been hanging over my head for the past semester, is done! Actually, it was finished and turned in yesterday, but let's not lie, I was way
too tired to make a post about such then. I've pretty much survived the last two weeks on tea, energy drinks, and sheer will-power, as well as some very encouraging words and the understanding of a couple wonderful profs.
And, surprisingly, I don't completely hate the thing. In fact, I think I might have even had a couple interesting and original things to say. And most bizarrely of all, I'm actually kind of feeling the urge to write meta about the role of the mother of Jesus in John's passion narrative. But that can wait.
Right now, I'm sipping black currant wine and eating a doughnut (because I can!) and revelling in the prospect of at least a week of freedom. There are other papers to write before the semester is done, but somehow, none of them really seem to matter when you've pulled off a massive 60 pager. (With 100 footnotes. I'm absurdly proud of the footnotes, for some reason.)
AND, as though to ensure that this day would be wonderful, this morning when I checked my mailbox on my way to work, there was a package from starfoozle
, who, for the record, is pretty much the greatest person on earth. She sent me Ray Bradbury's Dandelion Wine
(yay summer reading), along with a card containing THE MOST BEAUTIFUL PIECE OF ARTWORK I HAVE EVER SEEN!
Why yes, that is
Slick, Cham Syndulla, Kitster Banai, and Palo Gvanish all in one picture. You guys have no idea how long I squeed over this. I've had a ridiculous love-sick smile on my face ALL DAY because of it.
And so. Thanks so much to everybody who left comments on my post of rage a few weeks ago. *hugs you all* I'll try to catch up on reading people's posts and fics and doing some memeage soon. :)
